Law enforcement divers remove 1,500 pounds of trash from Sebastian Inlet

Thanks to Florida's law enforcement community, the third annual Sebastian Inlet Cleanup was a smashing success! On May 1 and 2, divers removed approximately 1,500 pounds of trash from depths of the inlet. The booty included monofilament, cast nets, hundreds of pounds of lead sinkers, jigs, hooks, crusty tools and even a chunk of fiberglass from a boat that sank in the inlet last year! Participants included US Fish and Wildlife, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, Melbourne Police Dive Team, Seminole County, Brevard County Ocean Rescue, and St. Johns County. Providing support were Coastal Connections, Sebastian Inlet State Park and the Sebastian Inlet District. Long Doggers and M.H. Williams Construction provided food and drinks. Helo and Sub provided technical support for the divers. Thank you, everyone.
